Coping with Comments
lMost of the major free/low-cost blogging software (Wordpress, Blogger, Movable Type, Typepad, etc.) offers some kind of comment authentication
lThis can allow you to filter out most of the spam comments--but it’s not foolproof, and it won’t keep human commenters who are intent on creating mayhem away from your blog
lAnother option: require registration for comments, or require moderator approval before comments go live on the site.
lRequiring registration may discourage some people from posting their comments
lModerator approval is labor-intensive if your blog becomes popular
